Ohio’s Cheapest Date Night Cities

If you’re an Ohio resident or taking a vacation here over Valentine’s Day, you’ll surely want to know where the cheapest cities are in this state, for when you take out the apple of your eye. We’re well aware that on the 14th, prices hike up, but we’ve found the average cost of conversating with your beloved over a candlelit dinner on a standard day. We factored in the cost of a three-mile cab and a good bottle of wine, as well.

Here’s what we found…

1. Lima

To narrow down your Valentine’s Day dinner search, we’ve found the city of Lima is your best bet for an affordable evening with the one you lust over, being the cheapest Ohio city overall.

It’s here you’ll pay a more-than-reasonable sum of around $46.38 for a cab, meal and bottle of wine. So, Valentine’s Day prices are likely to remain low, even if they increase a little. Plus, you’ll be paying an average of just $30 for dinner — for the two of you in Lima — what a bargain! This means you have the pick of the draw when deciding what to feast on. Although, a bottle of wine here costs $11, which isn’t the lowest cost on the list.

You’ll definitely be calling down a cab in Lima, though with a three-mile journey costing an amazing $1, which is the lowest out of any of the Ohio cities surveyed. No walking home is needed, you can pop on your best coat, suit, or pair of shoes, knowing you’ll leave looking as glamorous as you arrived!

2. Youngstown

Next up, taking the second cheapest Ohio dating spot is Youngstown, where you’ll spend an average of $71.23 on all of the date-night essentials. It’ll cost you just under $55 for dinner for two ($54.73) in this city, $9.50 for a tasty bottle of wine, and a tiny $2 for a cab traveling around three miles — which is pretty impressive. If you're both sports aficionados, you could always consider adding in a simple moneyline bet at Caesars Sportsbook Ohio. Wouldn't it be romantic if your bet won?

3. Delaware

In third place for affordable dating locations in Ohio was Delaware, with a meal for two being priced at $54 on average in this city. A date in Delaware will only see you spend $74 overall, when considering all of the night’s activities and tasty treats.

For those wanting a cozy night in, or to carry on the evening, come Valentine’s Day, a bottle of wine will only set you back $8 — which was the cheapest of all the top five cities. Catching a cab to and from here is a little higher than other cities, priced at $9 for a three-mile cab journey.

4. Toledo

Toledo came next, with couples (or couples-to-be) only paying $76.29 for a date in this location overall. Dinner for you two love birds averages $60, with a cab starting at $2 and a three-mile cab costing just $2.30 on average. You really will get more bang for your buck in this city, making this another great spot for romance come the 14th! However, Toledo is the Ohio city where you’ll be forking out the most for a bottle of wine, priced at $11.99. Ouch.

5. Canton

The final city for an affordable date in Ohio was Canton, where a night filled with love, food, a bottle of wine and a cab ride averages out at around $77.95. Hailing a cab here and traveling a short distance will only cost $6 — which starts at $2.50, but what’s better is dinner for you both still won’t be putting you out of pocket, costing only $60.

If you want a bottle of wine for the two of you back home in Canton, you’ll spend just $9.45 for the privilege — which is great considering the meal out won’t cost you that much either.

Most Expensive Date Night Cities in Ohio

As well as finding Ohio’s five cheapest date night cities, we looked into the most expensive spots. So, what are the priciest locations to head to for your first date, or take your significant other?

Cleveland, Dennison are Most Expensive

The results are in and it’s Cleveland, alongside Dennison that came out as the most expensive Ohio cities to enjoy a romantic date. It’s in both of these areas where you’ll be spending around $100.72 to gaze at, travel and wine and dine with your crush!

Sharing dinner doesn’t cost millions in these areas, but it will still set you back $75 for the two of you, which is only going to increase when cupid’s arrow hits you both on Valentine’s Day!

Traveling in a three-mile cab will set you back $6.72 in these two areas, starting at $4 on average. So, even if you’re not traveling far, you’ll still be shelling out the cash for a short journey. A bottle of wine for you two love birds is priced at a startling $15 in Cleveland and Dennison, too, which matches other, less affordable Ohio dating cities like Athens and Dayton.

Athens Takes Next Spot

If you’re looking to spend under $100 this Valentine’s Day, the chances could be slim in Athens — with this city coming in next for the most expensive date-night city. Although the average date costs $1 under $100 ($99) in Athens, prices will likely spike when you book a seat at a romantic restaurant this Valentine’s Day.

This city will see you spend around $69, collectively, on a meal for two, and $15 on a store-bought wine. One of the priciest parts of your date, though, will be the cab ride — with the cost starting at a whopping $9, but an average three-mile journey will see you spend around $6.

Columbus Fourth Most Unaffordable City

Lower than the other cities mentioned, but still pretty pricy is Columbus, with a date on average costing $92.75. It might be short of $100, but it’s still quite a high stake for one evening, with a store-bought wine being retailed at around $12, and a cab costing $9.75 for a short, three-mile trip.

Dayton Also on Most Expensive List

Also known as the Gem City, Dayton came in at the fifth most expensive Ohio city for a date. Overall, the average cost of the date, considering a cab, a meal and a bottle of wine is just over $85 ($86.75).

A bottle of wine is pretty pricy here, too, costing $15 from a local store. Dinner for two will see you shelling out at least $54, which isn’t too bad, but rates are expected to be raised when Valentine’s Day dining menus are set.
