What are the Browns Playoff Chances?
Cleveland was not overly active in free agency, and they lack draft picks, but the Browns currently have a 51.2% chance of making the playoffs. The table below shows the Brownsโ chances to make the playoffs, win the AFC, win the Super Bowl, and some more data for context.
In order to calculate the Brownsโ chances of making the playoffs, I converted the odds from DraftKings Sportsbook into an implied probability. Every team currently has odds attached to them to make and miss the playoffs, and those odds are equivalent to an implied probability. The Browns have -105 odds of making the playoffs, which is an implied probability of 51.2%.
To determine the Brownsโ chances of missing the playoffs, subtract 51.2% from 100%. As you can see, the Browns are expected to make the playoffs, but barely. Cleveland has a 21.7% chance of winning the AFC North, the 2nd lowest of the four teams. Lastly, Cleveland has a slight 2.4% chance of winning the Super Bowl. Odds makers expect the Browns to make the postseason but not make any noise when they get there.
Adding other relevant factors to the equation besides implied probabilities stemming from oddsmakers is important. In order to add more context, I am using ESPNโs Football Power Index (FPI) to track how a team is performing, as well as the New York Times Postseason Simulator.
For a deeper look into the Browns Super Bowl odds and history, I have a separate page detailing the team's current and historical Super Bowl odds.

Looking Ahead: Browns Playoff Picture
In order for the Browns to reach their full potential, they need to improve on defense. Yes, they need better play from quarterback Deshaun Watson, but their defense was atrocious last season. The Browns made some moves to add some players on defense, which I liked, but this unit needs to play at a higher level.
If Watson can return to his 2020 form, and the Browns' defense can step up, it is certainly possible that the Browns will win 10+ games and make the playoffs. As it stands now, the Browns are expected to make the playoffs, so it is just a matter of if they live up to those lofty expectations.
Do the Browns Have a Chance to Make the Playoffs?
Yes, the Browns have a chance to make the playoffs. As a matter of fact, all 32 NFL teams have a chance to make the playoffs because the 2023 NFL season has not kicked off yet. With that being said, at the moment, the Browns are expected to make the playoffs.
The Browns do not have a first or second-round draft pick to improve their team in the 2023 NFL Draft, but they did a good job in free agency. Before Deshaun Watson missed a full season and a half, he was an MVP-caliber player, so there is certainly warranted optimism for Browns fans.
The Browns are in a tough division in the AFC North, but there is no reason to believe they cannot win it. The Browns have done well against the Bengals in years past, the Ravens do not know who will be their quarterback, and the Steelers are coming off a down year. It is very possible the Browns have the second best QB in the division heading into Week 1.
Are the Browns Out of Playoffs?
No, the Cleveland Browns are not out of the playoffs. The season has not even begun yet, how could any team be out?! With that being said, based on the current odds, the Browns are expected to make the playoffs. However, their current playoff chances are just 51.2%, meaning there is still a 48.8% chance the Browns will not make the playoffs. These odds are dynamic and will change as we and oddsmakers are exposed to more information.
