The sportsbooks install the point total, and bettors must decide if the two teams will combine for more points (betting the over) or fewer points (betting the under). Commonly, the point total will have a 0.5 tacked to the end, called a "hook," which prevents any chance that a bet will tie since you cannot score half-points in football.
A parlay NFL bet is a type of bet where the bettor ties the outcome of two or more bets, commonly referred to as "legs," into a single wager. All wagered bets within the parlay must cash in order to win. If any of the legs of the parlay loses, the entire bet loses. Though this strategy poses risk because it's "all or nothing," the profit margin for parlay NFL bets is much higher than if you were to wager on all of their legs individually.
NFL prop bets, sometimes called "proposition bets," are wagers on outcomes that aren't directly tied to the win/loss outcome of a game. Types of NFL prop bets might include player props, where sports bettors wager on an individual player's performance. These can also include NFL team prop bets, such as wagers on how many total touchdowns a team will score or how many total field goals they'll make in a given week.
NFL futures bets are wagers placed on an outcome that will be decided later on, in the future. NFL futures bets include wagers on whether or not a team will make the playoffs or which team will win the Super Bowl.
