Players to Watch During Browns Training Camp
All eyes will be on the quarterback competition in Cleveland, but one name drawing extra attention is rookie Shedeur Sanders, who enters camp with plenty of buzz. A veteran player to keep an eye on is receiver Diontae Johnson, as he looks to prove he can be a consistent playmaker. On the other side of the ball, first-round pick Mason Graham will be under the spotlight as he makes the jump from Michigan to the pros.
Shedeur Sanders
Sanders enters camp as the biggest wild card in the Browns’ quarterback competition. A late-round pick with big-name recognition, he has plenty to prove. Sanders’ development will be closely monitored, from how quickly he picks up the playbook to how he handles reps in practice. Coaches and fans alike will be watching his work ethic, how he interacts with teammates, and his decision-making. It’s unlikely he’ll start Week 1, but if he shows potential, Sanders could work his way into the conversation and earn playing time as the season goes on.
Diontae Johnson
Johnson enters camp with something to prove. The veteran wideout has shown promising talent in the past, but 2024 was a low point. Johnson bounced between multiple teams and posted career lows across the board. Now, with a fresh start in Cleveland, he’ll need to show he can contribute at a high level and earn a roster spot.
With the depth chart still unsettled in Cleveland, Johnson’s performance in camp could make or break his NFL future. If he demonstrates focus and consistency, he has a real chance to carve out a role in the Browns’ offense. But if he struggles, his time in Cleveland could be cut short.
Mason Graham
First-round pick Mason Graham was a force at Michigan, but the jump to the NFL brings new challenges. The rookie will be watched closely in camp to see how quickly he adapts, especially in areas like leverage, hand usage, and overall technique. This is the first real chance for fans to get a look at his potential impact on the Browns’ defensive line and whether he’s ready for early playing time. It’s also a chance for Graham to build chemistry with veterans like Myles Garrett and prove he belongs in the rotation.

Cleveland Browns Preseason Schedule for 2025
The Browns kick off the preseason on the road against the Panthers on August 8, with a joint practice scheduled in the days leading up to the game. Cleveland then heads to Philadelphia for another joint session with the Eagles ahead of their second preseason matchup on August 16. Cleveland wraps up preseason at home against the Rams on August 23 before turning its attention to a big Week 1 showdown with the Bengals.
These preseason matchups will offer early insight into how the roster is shaping up and could influence how oddsmakers view the Browns' Super Bowl odds heading into 2025.
