International Game Technology’s IGT PlaySports technology will now have a bigger prescience in the Buckeye State.

In a press release, IGT announced that it is expanding its footprint in Ohio betting sites through an agreement with BetSkybox. The agreement will deploy IGT’s PlaySports QuickBet Kiosks at licensed restaurants and bars across Ohio.

"BetSkybox is thrilled to deliver IGT's award-winning sports betting technology to our licensed partners and offer the convenience of PlaySports' self-service betting solutions to the many sports fans throughout Ohio," Skybox Sports Network President Ron Frederickson said in a press release. "IGT's high-performing betting solutions will add another layer of excitement as patrons gather at these social establishments to watch their favorite sports and teams."

Ohio Sportsbooks Have Huge First Month

Sports betting in Ohio is still in its infancy after a statewide rollout on New Year’s Day, with its first full month in January. But the state’s sports betting handle was enormous at just over $1.1 billion, the second-highest debut month in history behind New York. And nearly 98% ($1.09 billion) of that handle, or amount wagered, came from online Ohio betting apps. Mobile promotional gaming credits in January were nearly $320 million.

As far as Ohio betting kiosks from Type-C proprietors – a unique feature of sports wagering in Ohio – the handle was just over $850,000. The kiosks are available at Ohio grocery stores, bars and other licensed establishments with a liquor license. Ohio has kiosks at nearly 800 locations throughout the state.

Kiosks Offer Different Betting Experience

Ohio’s three kiosks vendors earned just under $90,000 in revenue for January. Ohio’s overall gross sports betting revenue was just over $209 million.

"Expanding IGT PlaySports' footprint in Ohio through our partnership with BetSkybox increases the opportunity for sports fans throughout the state to enjoy premium betting experiences while they are watching games at restaurants and bars,” IGT President of Sports Betting Joe Asher said in the release. “Ohio's high-profile professional and collegiate sports teams have loyal and engaged fan bases. The simplicity and intuitive nature of IGT's PlaySports kiosks will make it easy for any fan to responsibly place bets on their favorite sports teams.”

With many sports fans in the Buckeye State still new to being able to wager while they watch, BetOhio is your home for the best sports betting promos in Ohio you can use to get great deals for signing up and opening an Ohio sports betting account.
