Ohio sports betting closed out 2025 with its strongest performance yet, officially becoming the state’s most profitable year since wagering launched on Jan. 1, 2023.
According to the Ohio Casino Control Commission, sportsbooks generated more than $1 billion in total revenue for the year, placing Ohio among just four U.S. states to cross the $1 billion mark in 2025.
Mobile wagering continued to dominate the market, accounting for roughly 98% of total bets. The final month of the year capped the record run, with December standing out as Ohio’s most profitable month of 2025.
New Highs for Ohio Sports Betting Revenue
Sports betting generated $1.045 billion in total taxable revenue in Ohio, hitting a new record. With the 20% sports betting tax rate, Ohio collected over $200 million in tax revenue for the year.
Compared to 2024, the state saw a 15.6% increase in sports betting revenue, up from $904.18 million, reflecting continued growth across both Ohio sports betting apps and retail platforms.
Ohio Sports Betting Peaks in December
The Ohio Casino Control Commission reported $954.3 million in total sports betting handle for December 2025, down from November’s record-setting $1.15 billion. Despite the lower handle, December became the most profitable month of the year, with $137.89 million in total revenue, surpassing November’s $133.03 million.
DraftKings and FanDuel once again dominated the Ohio market. FanDuel Ohio posted $316.1 million in handle and $53.45 million in taxable revenue, while DraftKings reported $301.02 million in handle and $45.5 million in taxable revenue.
Bet365 Ohio also closed the year strong, with $75.5 million in handle and $8.6 million in taxable revenue for December.
