Who Might Acquire Bengals DE Hendrickson?

The Bengals reportedly are seeking both a high draft pick and at least one defensive player in return for the 30-year-old Hendrickson, who led the NFL in sacks last season. That was a remarkable accomplishment considering the Bengals had one of the worst defenses in the league.

NFL Insider Jordan Schultz tweeted that the Indianapolis Colts, along with the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns, have “shown interest” in acquiring Hendrickson.

Cincinnati Bengals playoff chances could well be affected by what happens next.

Of all the possibilities, the Colts make the most sense, especially because Lou Anarumo, the Bengals former defensive coordinator, took over the same job in Indy this offseason after his dismissal. Carolina also could be in position to get Hendrickson.

However, even if the Bengals are seriously entertaining offers, it seems a stretch the team would make a trade – even if it provided the best return – with the Browns, one of their biggest rivals and a fellow AFC North team. The teams play each other twice each year, including Week 1 this season. Having a highly motivated Hendrickson line up against his former team is not what the Bengals would want, even though it would spice things up for wagering at Ohio sportsbook apps.

While we have tightened the odds on Hendrickson staying with the Bengals, that option remains the favorite on our board. However, we now rate those chances at around 60% compared to 81.8% a couple of weeks ago.

The Latest On Bengals, Hendrickson

According to James Rapien, publisher of the Bengals on SI, the team is offering Hendrickson a multi-year deal with an average around $35 million per year. While that value is comparable to recent deals with other premier defensive ends and pass rushers, it does not come with the guaranteed money those other deals included, which is why Hendrickson remains on the sidelines at camp.

Data from ProFootballReference.com shows that production from defensive ends drops off significantly once pash rushers reach 30. That makes sense as quarterbacks become younger and more mobile, but it still doesn’t mean Hendrickson doesn’t have another quality year or two left in him.

BetOhio.com will provide regular updates on Bengals Super Bowl odds as the season progresses.

Why This Matters For Bengals

Coming off of consecutive 9-8 seasons, barely missing the playoffs both times, 2025 could be an all-or-nothing season for the Bengals. Yes, Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins all have long-term deals in place, and the offense should continue to operate at a high level. But without improvements on defense, it’s unlikely that the Bengals can be anything better than a dark horse contender.

As of Aug. 18, bet365 Ohio Sportsbook has the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles as the third favorites to win Super Bowl 60 in February 2026, at +700 odds. Cincy’s division rival, the Baltimore Ravens, are tied for first at +650 alongside the Buffalo Bills. Cincinnati is at +2200, tied for 10th on the odds board with the Minnesota Vikings.
