Ohio Sports Betting Operators Launch Successfully For New Year, New Era

The ball has dropped and the big day has finally arrived.

After months of anticipation, mobile and retail Ohio sportsbooks launched in Ohio moments after New Year’s Day began. A bevy of operators began taking wagers as soon as the calendar flipped to 2023.

Ohio Sports Betting Operators Underway at Casinos and Racinos

On the retail side, there are plenty of brick-and-mortar options for the Ohio sports bettor, partnered with operators who also launched their mobile sports betting options. 

Hollywood Casino Columbus, Hollywood Gaming Mahoning Valley, Hollywood Casino Toledo and Hollywood Dayton Raceway have opened Barstool Sportsbooks. The BetMGM Sportsbook Ohio has retail locations at Northfield Park (Cleveland) and Great American Ball Park, the home of the Cincinnati Reds.

FanDuel Sportsbook launched at midnight in Ohio and has a retail store at Belterra Park in Cincinnati. Belterra Park is also partnered with Betway Sportsbook Ohio,, which launched its app at midnight. Major League Baseball’s Hit King Pete Rose was on hand at 12:01 a.m. to place the first wager at Hard Rock Sportsbook at Hard Rock Casino in Cincinnati.

Elsewhere in Greater Cincinnati, SuperBook, partnered with FC Cincinnati of Major League Soccer, opened its temporary location at Taft’s Ale House and launched its app at midnight. 

In Columbus, Tipico Ohio Sportsbook has opened a retail location at the MLS Columbus Crew Stadium (Crew SC Stadium Company). BetJACK launched an app at midnight and has an in-person store at JACK Cleveland Casino. 

Gamewise/MVG Bet launched its digital site at midnight and opened the doors to its retail store at Miami Valley Gaming and Racing in Dayton.

BetRivers Sportsbook Ohio, in addition to an app, has a retail location at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. 

Caesars Sportsbook Ohio launched at midnight with an app and retail locations at Scioto Downs (Columbus) and a two-story book inside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, the home of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Mobile Ohio Sportsbook Operator Options

On the online side, Betfred Sportsbook Ohio, a partner of the Cincinnati Bengals, launched its sports betting application at midnight. Betr, the sports betting company founded by Ohio native Jake Paul, also launched at midnight. Bet365 Sportsbook Ohio, a sports-betting partner of the Cleveland Guardians, launched its app at midnight.

PointsBet Ohio Sportsbook, partnered with Hollywood at Mahoning Valley in Austintown, launched its sports betting app at midnight as well.

DraftKings Sportsbook, partnered with Hollywood Casino Toledo, also has launched its online operations.
