AI Predicts Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns’ 2025 Records

If recent history has taught us anything, it’s that while the Cincinnati Bengals are a very talented team, they’re also not adept at starting a season strong.

In each of the past three seasons, the Bengals have started 0-2, 0-2 and 0-3. The latter two slow starts have come back to bite them as they missed the playoffs altogether. That makes this season a critical one for coach Zac Taylor. Another 0-fer start could lead to him getting fired.

Up Interstate 71, there’s a lot of questions about the Cleveland Browns. First and foremost, who will be the starting quarterback come Week 1, and how often will the team change signal callers this season?

While Bengals fans are admittedly nervous about the start of this season and Browns fans are just flat out worried, artificial intelligence applications aren’t influenced by pesky emotions or past performances. At least that’s what BetOhio.com found out when we asked Grok, ChatGPT and Gemini to give us their forecast for each team’s 2025 record. The following is AI’s prediction for each regular season contest across Ohio sports betting.

A 12-5 season should make for some very happy people in WhoDey Nation. Even if that mark is not good enough to win the AFC North, it will be good enough for a Wild Card.

That record is possible for Cincinnati this season, especially if they get Trey Hendrickson into camp before Week 1. Check out our Trey Hendrickson Next Team Odds here.

While AI expects them to struggle on the road, the Bengals could pull out one of the games against Green Bay, Baltimore or Buffalo. That said, they’re also likely to drop a seemingly winnable game at home, and the Chicago Bears or Arizona Cardinals could be the team to pull an upset in Cincy this year.

Critical Matchups for 2025 Cincinnati Bengals

What else stands out from this prediction? BetOhio identified three factors that AI believes will determine the narrative around the Bengals' campaign.

  • Week 3 road win over Minnesota Vikings: The 2024 Vikings lost exactly one home regular season contest, and it was a close call against a 15-2 Detroit Lions team. Sam Darnold is now a Seahawk, and our AI models like the matchup of new Bengals defensive coordinator Al Golden against first-year starter JJ McCarthy. The Bengals’ defense was a major factor in their struggles during the 2024 season. If Golden can outmatch McCarthy and Kevin O'Connell to get the Bengals out to a 3-0 mark, the slow start narrative around Taylor will wane. And the Bengals Super Bowl Odds will shorten accordingly.

  • Week 13 loss to Baltimore Ravens: John Harbaugh's squad kept the Bengals out of the playoffs last season by sweeping Taylor and co. Making matters worse, both Bengals losses were by a combined 4 points. In fact, the Bengals haven't beaten Baltimore since Week 18 in the 2022 season. AI thinks that streak continues through their first matchup this season, though does predict a close Week 15 Bengals win with Burrow finally outdueling two-time MVP Lamar Jackson.

  • Four-game win streak to end season: AI thinks the Bengals will start 4-0, but has them slipping to 8-5 after Week 14. That 4-5 stretch will be trying for Taylor and Burrow, espeically after they fail to defeat the Ravens yet again in Week 13 as we discussed above. But, don't panic. AI has the Bengals playing their best ball at the right time, capping off the regular season with four straight wins over Baltimore (finally), Miami, Arizona and Cleveland.

Conclusion: The Bengals’ 12-5 record is driven by Joe Burrow’s leadership exploiting weaker teams like the Jaguars and Cardinals. Wins in key home games, like Week 15 vs. Baltimore, bolster their postseason chances, despite tough road losses to Buffalo and Green Bay.

Starting 0-7 will lead to Kevin Stefanski getting fired, even if the beginning of the season is loaded. While AI believes the Browns will be in most of their games, the 21-7 loss to the Jets in the Meadowlands sticks out, especially coming off a bye week.

If that start does happen, that will likely lead to the team giving the ball to either Dillon Gabriel or Shedeur Sanders (or both) to see if they can emerge as the team’s quarterback of the future. If one shows promise, then it gives the Browns something to think about with their two first round draft picks next spring.

Critical Takeaways for 2025 Cleveland Browns

What else stands out from this prediction? The 0-7 start will obviously bring about mid-season changes from Browns ownership. What will that look like beyond Gabriel/Sanders getting snaps?

  • Parting ways with a two-time Coach of the Year: Everyone knows the long and twisted history of Cleveland Browns coaches. While Stefanski's record in Cleveland is 4 games under .500 (40-44), that mark doesn't tell the full story. He has helped author multiple 11-win seasons with multiple quarterbacks, and those alone have gotten him two Coach of the Year awards (2020, 2023). The Stefanski-Deshaun Watson match has not worked, but the coach has had levels of success with nearly every other QB in Cleveland. That still won't be enough to save him from an 0-7 start however, and barring great play from a rookie QB (neither of whom were taken in the first 3 rounds of the draft) Cleveland will again be looking for a new head coach by Week 8.

  • Viable interim coaching candidate? Stefanski's coordinators are OC Tommy Rees and DC Jim Schwartz. Rees is a young coach who played QB at Notre Dame, while Schwartz had one good season in Detroit as a head coach and helped the Eagles to a Super Bowl ring in 2018 as DC. Our AI models did not identify Stefanski's in-season successor, but their models don't believe either will make a tangible impression. BetOhio projects a 4-6 mark the rest of the way after the Stefanski firing. While that is certainly an improvement from the start of the season, it is doubtful that would be enough to lock in Rees or Schwartz for the following year. Which begs the question....

  • Bill Belichick back to Cleveland? AI sees changes coming in Cleveland, but what's more difficult to predict is who could take over in the offseason should this projection play out. Our practice of simulating NFL seasons will soon expand to the college gridiron, and the immediate future for Bill Belichick and UNC is murky at best. Could The Hoodie really return to Cleveland? Remember, this is a franchise that has struggled to retain head coaches, and Belichick hasn't had the NFL's interest for two straight years. At BetOhio, we're taking AI's predictions and wondering if the Haslams will make a call to Chapel Hill and Belichick next off-season.

Conclusion: A 4-13 Browns season will cost Kevin Stefanski his job, while Shedeur Sanders will fail to prove that he can be the team's quarterback of the future. Entering next offseason, Browns ownership will consider handing the reigns of the franchise to a proven NFL winner like Bill Belichick.
